Its been a busy year full of good times and not so good times. As an artist I, like many others, ponder why we do what we do. For me the question was answered this year- it is because I can now paint without putting pressure on myself, inspired by the pure physicality and emotion of getting lost in my work.
The pressure of whether or not people will like my work, if it will sell etc has gone and I am enjoying
every second I spend in my studio. Can it be that this feeling of contentment is reflected in my paintings as this year I have been overwhelmed by people's reactions and the record sales I've made. Is this change in attitude towards my work a consequence
of surrendering my ego?
Merry Christmas to one and all and a Very happy New Year.
